So, we’re still on for Ninefox Gambit this month, right? And what’s on tap for September? Continuing monthly picks, or just tackle the slow read for a while?

For September I'm thinking of a change of mood to a witty 2001 debut novel called The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde (an English writer who now lives in Wales). It's in the British tradition of comedy thinly disguised as SF and was sufficiently successful that Fforde wrote several more in the series - but this one shows no real signs that others were planned. I don't think we've read it before ( @Apocryphal please confirm) and it'll be a big contrast with Ninefox Gambit.
I've been meaning to set up the category and all the last few days but other stuff got in the way. Hopefully later today.
After that, the normal rota would have @clash_bowley in October, @Apocryphal in November, and @NeilNjae in December. As usual, if @BarnerCobblewood or @Michael_S_Miller want to host something somewhen in that span of months please let us know.
That's assuming we carry on monthly picks in parallel with the slow read, which I'm happy to do but open to other opinions
September selection The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde category posted so it's time to update notification preferences (though they're still not working for me)

The name sounds REALLY familiar for some reason.
I am thinking of C. J. Cherryh's Tripoint
The double letters? ff vs rr?
No, Two different statements! I am thinking I must have read something by Jasper Fforde because the name is so odd yet familiar AND that I am thinking of Cherryh's Tripoint for October! Some mental shorthand for you all!:D
Arabian Nights schedule thoughts. I think we should aim at about 20-25 pages per week. Is that OK?
Also, I think the Introduction has some good stuff in it about the context of the Arabian Night, and how it's interpreted. How about we split the first few weeks so that we read some introduction and some story each week?
All: I have set up the new slow read discussion category for The Arabian Nights and moved the discussion @NeilNjae started with the link to the Google Doc plan into it
Just checking how close people are to finishing The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. Not that I'm planning posting anything before the weekend but just finding out
All: discussion on The Eyre Affair has dwindled (all in all, not a successful choice ) so it's time to turn to October's choice, The Wager, with discussion to be led by @Ray_Otus at the end of the month

Let's go for Horta and Seale, just so I don't get bored reading the same book again!
Boughted!
Who is up next?

How are people getting on with Ninefox Gambit? Shall I post questions at the weekend, or would people like some extra time?
Ripped through it!
All done
Questions posted in the Ninefox gambit category.
As for the Arabian Nights, sorry for being a bit slow on this. I'll put together a reading schedule in the next few days.

Mostly done
Getting there. I'm about half-way, but should have some time this week to get cracking.
All: apologies for the slight delay but some discussion starters for The Eyre Affair are now posted.
...and Arabian Nights week 2.

It looked like it should have been a good read, so it was a good choice for the club. Perhaps we're getting spoiled in our old age?
