Arabian Nights: next steps

1

The next chunk of "stories" is the translated transcription of Galland's notes of the Diyab stories, and then we dive into some pieces written about the Arabian Nights, their translations, and reception. Do we want to continue?

I think we're in "diminishing returns" territory here.

Agree re: the diminishing returns, but I’m going to finish the book regardless. The ‘works inspired by’ section might be interesting. As will the afterword, having enjoyed Irwin’s companion. I also bought a fiction by Irwin called ‘The Arabian Nightmare’ which I’m curious about.

I'm with @Apocryphal on this in that I would like to finish the book. However, I also think you're right @NeilNjae about diminishing returns. How about we stick to the planned schedule as regards sections? This takes us, I think, up to the end of the actual tales, and leaves out the collection of sundry bits and pieces. I'd still like to go through those, if only for a sense of completion, and maybe we'll work out some strategy for reading and discussing. But the exceptionally detailed and helpful comments you have been making - which must have taken no little time and thought to prepare - might perhaps no longer be necessary at this stage.

Yes, good point and thanks very much for taking the time to prepare all those summaries.

OK, that all sounds good. And thanks for the comments on my notes.

Let's keep to the schedule for a bit, we'll just post thoughts and musings as they come to us. But also, feel free to start threads on each week if you're ready before I am!
