I will start with Erewhon by Samuel Butler, a piece of Utopian satire, which I think should be easy enough to obtain for everyone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erewhon
I just read Horror: 100 Best Books and flagged a bunch that could be interesting for a fall read. Of these, I’m thinking of Ancient Sorceries by Algernon Blackwood, which was recently re-issued in their Weird Fiction series by Penguin. So that’s two. I’ll have a think about the third.
I'll throw out a couple ideas.
Mythago Wood by Robert Holdstock
The Separation by Christopher Priest
I'm always down for a horror novel as well.
My first offer would be Travel Light by Naomi Mitchison - it's short (under 200 pages) and easily available on Amazon (UK and US), Audible and bookshop.org. It's a slightly weird blend of fairy tale, folklore, and historical fantasy. Mitchison was immensely prolific in fiction, memoir and political/social comment, but has largely disappeared from view. She was a friend of JRR Tolkien and a proof reader for LotR, and became increasingly outspoken through her life on gender and social issues before dying in Scotland in 1999 at age 101. This book comes recommended by Ursula LeGuin among many others including me!
This looks quite intriguing and would be interested in reading it.
I've never read this despite knowing about it for decades, so I'd definitely be up for this one
