Markdown formatting basics

Vanilla forums use Markdown, a common lightweight formatting style.

Here's a quick cheat sheet, plus a nice little interactive tutorial.

You can also use some basic HTML, but I'm unsure of what's actually support and what's automagically stripped out.

Sigh... I never enjoy markdown and wish all these folk (Github included) would just stick with HTML! But c'est la vie

@RichardAbbott you can use (probably a subset of) HTML. I get the markdown choice as it's easier to sanitize.
