For those who want a different medium version of this, there was a well-received 1979 film which is available in a few places

Very nice - enjoyed that after reading the book. In the film, Davies boat was a gaff-rigged yawl, and Dollman's was a gaff-rigged schooner. Can't remember if they mentioned the boat riggings in the book.

I can see we're all going to get adept at small-boat nomenclature :)
I did a quick search in the kindle version, and an onlooker refers to Davies' boat as "your yawl". Also, the galliots are explicitly said to be "ketch-rigged".
Dollman's boat is variously called "a sailing yacht", "a barge-yacht", "built on the lines of a Dutch galliot" but I couldn't see anything about the rig.
